ISPO
ISPO is a standard developed by the Indonesian government that is used for sustainable plantation management. This standard contains criteria and indicators that incorporate environmental, social management principles and practices for managing palm oil plantations, implemented in a balanced manner based on regulations related to plantations and the palm oil industry. With the ISPO certification which is valid for 5 (five) years, the plantation management industry and the palm oil industry can manage it sustainably.
ISPO standards regulated in the Minister of Agriculture Regulation No. 38 of 2020 is a standard that is mandatory for all palm oil companies operating in Indonesia, starting from upstream to downstream.
The establishment of ISPO certification has the advantage of increasing production in order to be competitive and fulfill the commitment of the Indonesian government in mitigating greenhouse gases.
RSPO SCCS
RSPO is a not-for-profit that unites stakeholders from the 7 sectors of the palm oil industry: oil palm producers, processors or traders, consumer goods manufacturers, retailers, banks/investors, and environmental and social non-governmental organizations (NGOs), to develop and implement global standards for sustainable palm oil. RSPO SCCS aims to ensure that palm oil is produced sustainably called “producer/grower certification” or “Principles & Criteria certification” and to ensure the integrity of the trade in sustainable palm oil, i.e., that palm oil sold as sustainable palm oil has indeed been produced by certified plantations.
Certified palm oil products by the RSPO have added value not only for society and the environment but also for a bigger market, both to Europe and other export destination countries at a premium price.
